Talking College Football History: Scott Burk

We travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma this week to visit with our guest Scott Burk. Scott played QB at Oklahoma State from 1974-1978 (1977 was a redshirt year). Oklahoma State was a member of the Big Eight Conference in the 1970s and it was regarded as the best conference in college football for several of those years. Scott was a 2-sport athlete at OSU with baseball being his second sport. He played Minor League baseball in 1977, thus the reason he redshirted for football. Oklahoma State ran the wishbone under head coach Jim Stanley in the mid-1970s and Scott shared time at QB with Charlie Weatherbie. OSU appeared in 2 bowl games during his career (1974 Fiesta Bowl and 1976 Tangerine Bowl, both against BYU and OSU won both games). Scott's career was riddled with injuries. He broke his wrist in 1976 and was unable to finish the season in a year when Oklahoma State went 9-3. He did come back and was the starting QB in the 1978 season. Scott was drafted in the 9th round of the 1979 NFL Draft by the Bengals and played 1 season with the team. He has been a successful accountant for the last 45 years.
