Talking College Football History: Lonnie Young

We travel to the banks of the Red Cedar River this week with our guest Lonnie Young.  Lonnie played in the defensive secondary at Michigan State University from 1981-1984.  His career was bookended first by Coach Muddy Waters, then finished up with George Perles and a Cherry Bowl bid in 1984.  Lonnie was one of the players who helped turn Michigan State into the Big Ten contender that they still are today.  The Cherry Bowl bid in 1984 was MSU's first bowl game in 19 years.  He went on to a successful NFL career which lasted from 1985-1996 with the Cardinals, Jets and Chargers.  Lonnie is currently the GM of the USFL's Pittsburgh Maulers.
