Talking College Football History: Jerry Pettibone

You may remember our guest this week for his stints as the Northern Illinois and Oregon State head coach from the late 1980s through the mid-1990s.  However, did you know he is known as one of the best recruiting coordinators in NCAA history?  Coach Jerry Pettibone is our guest this week and he started as a Sooner player under Bud Wilkinson from 1958-1961.  He then had 2 stints at Oklahoma as their recruiting coordinator (1962-1970, 1972-1978).  Just think of some of the talent he helped get to OU, the Selmon brothers (Lucious, Dewey and Lee Roy), Billy Sims, Elvis Peacock, Thomas Lott, to name a few.  He then went to Nebraska from 1978-1981 and helped recruit Roger Craig, Turner Gill, Mike Rozier, Dave Rimington among many others.  Next up was a stint at Texas A&M from 1982-1984.  The Aggies went 29-7 from 1985-1987 due to his recruits.  We think you will enjoy this unique look at the game from a recruiting coach's perspective.
