Talking College Football History: Freddie Smalls

Freddie Smalls defines West Virginia football in the early 1980s and he is our guest this week.  In his Junior season at WVU (1984), Freddie had a tremendous game against Boston College and Heisman Trophy winner Doug Flutie in the first night game in West Virginia history.  WVU followed up with a win against Penn State the next week in Morgantown.  This was the first night game in ESPN history and the first time West Virginia beat Penn State since 1955.  Freddie became the the bodyguard for Mark Wahlberg after his WVU career.  He then joined the Army at 45 years of age to become a chaplain.  He retired from the Army recently after advancing up the ranks.  Join us as we go on a voyage with Freddie Smalls to talk about his career and life.
