Talking College Football History: Ed McMichael

Our guest this week is considered one of the Top 10 quarterbacks in Rutgers football history. According to The Knight Report dated October 28, 2023, Ed McMichael is listed as #7 on that list.  Ed stayed close to home when he migrated to Piscataway, NJ for his freshman season in 1976. He became the starter in 1979 and 1980, and this was Rutgers's start to strengthening their football schedule. Ed beat Tennessee in Knoxville in 1979 and almost knocked off #1 ranked Alabama in 1980 (17-13). He survived one of the most vicious hits I have ever seen a QB take when Bruce Clark sacked him at Beaver Stadium in 1979.  However, he survived that and had an outstanding career.  Enjoy this look back at a pivotal time in Rutgers football history with one of their best quarterbacks in history.
