Talking College Football History: Doug English

We go back to the early to mid-1970s this week during the Darrel Royal days at Texas.  Our guest this week is Doug English.  You may remember him as a member of the Detroit Lions "Silver Rush" defensive line in the late 1970s through the mid-1980s with teammates Al "Bubba" Baker, Dave Pureifory, William Gay to name a few.  Doug played at Texas from 1972-1974 and appeared in 2 Cotton Bowls.  The Texas defense gave up 71 total points (10 points per game) in Southwest Conference play in Doug's junior season of 1973.  Doug was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2011 and is now active with the Lone Star Paralysis Foundation.  They don't come any better than Doug English.  We hope you enjoy this look back at one of the best defensive linemen in Texas history and those great Longhorn teams he played on.
