Talking College Football History: Doug Dieken

Doug Dieken joins us this week.  If you followed NFL football in the 1970s to the early 1980s, Doug is a household name, but did you know he started out as a receiver, then a tight end at Illinois?  Doug played for the Illini from 1967-1970 and those were not successful teams as Illinois was on probation coming off the Pete Elliott slush fund scandal.  Doug ended up becoming a 6th round draft pick in the 1971 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns and he was drafted to play the offensive tackle position.  He successfully transitioned positions and started 194 consecutive games at the position.  When you look at Doug's stats, we feel he should be a Hall of Famer.  We will let you decide after listening to Doug talk about his career.
