Talking College Football History: Darrin Nelson

Our guest is one of the greatest players in Stanford football history. Darrin Nelson joins us this week and he played from 1977-1981 and is still in the Top 10 in 10 different offensive categories. Darrin made his mark right out of the gate in his freshman season of 1977 under new head coach Bill Walsh. He was a perfect fit for Coach Walsh's new offense which was a precursor to the West Coast offense that he perfected with the San Francisco 49ers. Darrin had a great career with Stanford and is still listed as #2 in career rushing yardage all-time. His great play earned him the 7th overall draft pick in the 1982 NFL draft. He played in the NFL from 1982-1992, mostly with the Minnesota Vikings, and as you will hear, he was not very fond of playing in a domed stadium. We hope you enjoy this trip back in the time machine to Palo Alto, CA with our guest Darrin Nelson.
