Coach Dan McCarney is our guest this week. Dan played football at Iowa and started his coaching career there. He was part of that legendary staff under Hayden Fry in 1981 that included Kirk Ferentz, Bob Stoops, Bill Snyder, Barry Alvarez among others. In 1990, he joined Barry Alvarez's staff at Wisconsin and helped turn that program around. Then in 1995, he ventured to Ames, Iowa to be the head coach of the Iowa State Cyclones. He turned that program around and in 2000 earned a bowl berth (Insight.com Bowl) for the first time since 1978 (Hall of Fame Classic).
