I feature author Stephen J. Schlager this week to discuss his book The Division I Dilemma: Inside the Broken System of College Sports. Steve has three children who participated in Division I athletics and this book describes his family's trials and tribulations regarding the process. You will learn a lot about the process of becoming a Division I athlete, from the signing process through acceptance. Steve discusses NIL and the reality around that along with the transfer portal once an athlete reaches Division I. He discusses the problems with the system, but he also offers some solutions to fix it. He also adds a chapter on advice to parents. This book will interest those who are involved in this process as well as anyone interested in college athletics.
