We take the time machine back to Raleigh, NC to the late 1960s with my guest Ron Carpenter. Ron was a 4-sport athlete at Thomasville High School in North Carolina, then migrated to Raleigh, NC to play for the Wolfpack. N.C. State was coached by Earle Edwards during this time frame and Ron played for him from 1966-1969. N.C. State was ranked #3 in the country in 1967 with a record of 8-0 before they travelled to Penn State for the 9th game of the season. Unfortunately, they lost to Penn State 13-8, then lost to Clemson 14-6 the following week and ended up in the Liberty Bowl where the Wolfpack beat Georgia 14-7. Ron was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1970 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals who were coached by Paul Brown. He played for the Bengals from 1970-1976 until injuries curtailed his career.
