Talking College Football History: Chris Dieterich

I take the time machine back to the late 1970s to Raleigh, NC with my guest, Chris Dieterich. Chris came to N.C. State via Long Island, NY and played from 1976-1979, which were the 4 years Bo Rein was the head coach of the Wolfpack. He played Tackle on an offensive line that had 3 members drafted into the NFL (Jim Ritcher and Chuck Stone were the others). N.C. State won an ACC Championship in 1979 but did not qualify for a bowl game. The Wolfpack and Penn State played 3 outstanding games during Chris's career (1977-1979) and are well worth watching to this day. Chris was drafted in the 6th round of the 1980 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. He played in Detroit his entire career which lasted through the 1986 season. After football he authored several books.
