Talking College Football History: Phil Bennett

We enter the time machine this week and travel back to College Station, Texas in the mid-1970s with our guest Phil Bennett. Phil played at Texas A&M from 1974-1977 at the defensive end position. He played for head coach Emory Bellard and his defensive coordinator was one of the best to ever coach defense in "Coach Mad Dog" Melvin Robertson. Texas A&M had back-to-back 10-2 seasons in 1975 and 1976. These were two of the best seasons in Texas A&M football history. After his collegiate career ended, Phil entered the coaching ranks and stayed there for over 40 years. He coached in every major conference in Division I (FBS), with stints at Kansas State (1999-2001) and Baylor (2011-2016) being the most successful. You will enjoy this conversation as Phil is full of energy and shares some great stories.
