Talking College Football History: Mike Archer

Our guest this week is former LSU head coach Mike Archer. Mike played his high school football at nearby State College High School, then ventured to Miami (Fla.) for his college football experience under new head coach Fran Curci. He stayed at Miami as a coach and coached under Carl Selmer, Lou Saban and Howard Schnellenberger. Mike moved on to LSU and became their head coach from 1987-1990. He then had stints at Virginia and Kentucky before becoming the Pittsburgh Steelers LB coach from 1996-2002 under head coach Bill Cowher. He coached until the year 2020 which makes 45 years in the profession. Mike shares his lengthy career as a player and coach when we travel back in time.
