Talking College Football History: Don Nehlen

Penn State and West Virginia renew its rivalry this Saturday, September 2.  They have not played since 1992 and when you think of the Penn State/West Virginia rivalry in the 1980s into the early 1990s you think of two coaches on the sidelines, Joe Paterno of Penn State and our guest this week, Don Nehlen of West Virginia.  Coach Nehlen came to West Virginia in 1980 and turned around a downtrodden program quickly.  As a matter of fact, he beat Penn State in 1984 (the first victory for WVU since 1955) and played for a national championship in 1988.  Coach Nehlen is the winningest coach in West Virginia history (1980-2000) and shares great stories on his career from Bowling Green to Michigan to the head coaching position at West Virginia.
