Our guest this week is Tom Shanahan who wrote the book Raye of Light: Jimmy Raye, Duffy Daugherty, the Integration of College Football and the 1965-66 Michigan State Spartans. Michigan State had 23 African-American players on their mid-1960s squads. You will come to know those great teams, including the individuals and coaches, as well as the journey to becoming National Champions. Tom also reveals the Hawaii connection developed by Coach Duffy Daugherty. I had a lot of fun reading this book and learned a lot about that time period in college football.
