Ron Coder joins me this week on the podcast. He played at Penn State from 1972-1975. Ron was a son of an Air Force officer and played his last year of high school football in Japan. His father was a member of the U.S. Olympic soccer team in 1956 after playing the sport at Penn State. Ron gets to Penn State in 1972 and starts out at tight end and in 1974 switches to the offensive line. In 1975, Coach Paterno asks him to switch positions once again to start as a defensive tackle. Ron was part of the 1975 team that Coach Joe Paterno states was the team that got the most of their ability of any team he ever coached. He was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1976 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers as an offensive lineman. He ended up with Seattle and played from 1976-1980 in the NFL. Ron also coached for several years after he left the NFL. I hope you enjoy this interview with Ron Coder.
