Jim Laslavic joins me this week. Jim came out of Etna High School in the Pittsburgh, PA area and migrated to Happy Valley in 1969. He was a part of Linebacker U and made his mark in his junior and senior seasons in 1971-1972. Penn State only lost 1 game in the regular season in both 1971 and 1972, and it was to Tennessee, both games in Knoxville, TN. This was in the middle of the "Heyday" of Penn State football, 7 major bowls in 8 seasons (1968-1975). Jim was among many great linebackers during his tenure which resulted in 6 linebackers drafted in 2 years (1973 - Jim Laslavic, Bruce Bannon and John Skorupan; 1974 - Ed O'Neil, Doug Allen and Tom Hull). He was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1973 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions and played in the NFL from 1973-1982 with the Detroit Lions, San Diego Chargers and Green Bay Packers. After football, Jim had a great career as a broadcaster, both in radio and television.
