Steve Griffiths joins me on the podcast this week. Steve migrated to Happy Valley from upstate New York and played for the Nittany Lions from 1977-1980. His stature was wiry to say the least, but he was tough as nails. Steve had a great season at linebacker in 1979, but he was injured in 1980 and shared time. He found out during his injury that he was born with only 1 kidney. This was a testament to his toughness as he finished his career at Penn State and signed as a free agent with the Seattle Seahawks but was cut before the season started. He had a successful business career after football, but more importantly was a family man. His daughters took after his athleticism and were outstanding volleyball players.
