Pocono Raceway is partnering with Man Cave Health, Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN), Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute, HNL Lab Medicine and The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) to promote men’s health and prostate screening during its July 12-14NASCAR race weekend.
The free PSA screenings will take place on the weekend days of The Great American Getaway 400 presented by VISITPA – Saturday (July 13) and Sunday (July 14) – at the Man Cave Health display in the Raceway’s Fan Zone area. The hours will be from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. ET daily.
The display will be supported by the phlebotomists from HNL Lab Medicine along with educational support from The Prostate Cancer Foundation. The overall display footprint will look to mimic your favorite “man cave” by including a lounge area, food sampling, roof deck and, most importantly, the opportunity to seek preventative care at no cost.
Philadelphia Eagles fans who go through the screening Sunday will receive an additional perk as well. Former Eagles great Jeremiah Trotter and his son Jeremiah Jr., the team’s fifth-round pick in this year’s NFL Draft, will make a special appearance beginning at 10:30 a.m. in support of Man Cave Health and their mission.
Focused on breaking the silence surrounding sensitive health topics for men, Man Cave Health’s mission is to raise funds to construct, equip, staff and operate Man Cave facilities in cities across the country, offer free health fairs, and free cancer screening events throughout the year. This is well worth the trip to Conn. Parella Motorsports Holdings (PMH) and Lime Rock Park have confirmed that four additional drivers will join the star-studded SpeedTour All-Star Race, July 19-20. An unprecedented gathering of motorsports icons, the weekend will not only feature 19 pairings of racing legends with today’s Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli stars, but it will also celebrate the first IROC event in more than 20 years, as several original IROC competitors reunite with cars raced in the iconic series.

The SpeedTour All-Star Race weekend kicks off on Friday, July 19, with All-Star drivers taking to the track for a 30-minute practice session, followed by qualifying that afternoon. Fans will have a chance to meet their favorite drivers during the All-Star Autograph Session at 2 p.m. ET on Friday, or during the Pre-Race Fan Walk on Saturday, July 20 at 12 p.m. ET. The SpeedTour All-Star Race will go green at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Top Fuel’s Schumacher has an amazing 10 victories at The Big Go, the most of any driver in NHRA history, while Force’s five Funny Car wins are tied with McCulloch for the most in class history. Anderson’s 100th career win in 2022 gave the five-time champ seven overall wins in Pro Stock at the world’s biggest drag race, while Brown has five career wins across two classes at the U.S. Nationals.
The NHRA U.S. Nationals has been synonymous with some of the biggest moments in NHRA history and more will be made in 2024. Last year, Brown (Top Fuel), Capps (Funny Car), Matt Hartford (Pro Stock), and Smith (Pro Stock Motorcycle) all won, with Brown, Capps and Smith winning at Indy for the second straight year. This year’s race will again be broadcast on FOX and FS1, including live eliminations on FOX on Monday, Sept. 2.
Doug Kalitta currently leads the Top Fuel ranks, while Austin Prock’s debut season in Funny Car has been a huge success as he leads the way. Dallas Glenn is the Pro Stock points leader, while Gaige Herrera remains undefeated in 2024 with five wins to his credit in Pro Stock Motorcycle. Other stars to watch include Top Fuel’s Brittany Force, Justin Ashley and racing legend Tony Stewart, who will make his Indy Top Fuel debut, Funny Car’s Bob Tasca III, Daniel Wilkerson and Alexis DeJoria, Pro Stock’s Aaron Stanfield and Troy Coughlin Jr. and Pro Stock Motorcycle’s Angie Smith, Hector Arana Jr. and Richard Gadson.
Starting next week, the NHRA will also explore each of the seven decades of The Big Go, starting with the 1960s when Garlits picked up a trio Top Fuel wins.

New Hampshire was another step in the right direction for NASCAR
According to motorsports journalist Holly Cain we can count it a success. I don’t agree.
The idea, testing, and implementation of the damp surface tires for a NASCAR Cup Series race has officially progressed from hopeful hypothesis to a proven can-do. The series made real-time use of the new technology and “let’s try it” spirit in Sunday’s rain-affected USA Today 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
And the result was a compelling final 86-lap shootout that likely wouldn’t have existed only a few years ago because of the challenging weather.
Following a nearly two-hour rain delay, teams put on damp surface tires and were able to complete the race – the field running four and five-wide at times and concluding with a close finish between winner Christopher Bell and runner-up Chase Briscoe.
Equally as important, NASCAR proved to fans, teams and drivers that under the right circumstances races could run competitively under damp conditions – something unheard of even five years ago.
NASCAR’s Senior Vice President for Competition Elton Sawyer told reporters after the race the series had been working closely with the weather service and knew there was a sizable time-window once the rain had passed. And he was pleased with the result.
“Absolutely [a success], if you look at the reason we came up with this and we started working through it with our teams and the folks at the NASCAR R&D Center (Research and Development), it was to do exactly what we did yesterday with the Xfinity race and today with the Cup race," said Sawyer, noting Saturday’s Xfinity Series race started on time with damp tires before the field switched to the normal racing slicks.
“Huge success today, shout-out to Goodyear, to our race teams everyone working together and our fans that stayed around to see 300-plus laps of racing which is what they paid for."
An ebullient Bell joked that it was as if he ran two different races on the same day – in the dry and in the damp. And ultimately, while it was a career-weekend for the Joe Gibbs Racing driver, who earned his first career weekend sweep after taking the trophy in Saturday’s Xfinity Series race too, he said Sunday’s race was absolutely one of the most memorable of his career.
“It was just so fun to get to experience that, run whatever it was, 80 laps in wet, damp conditions," a smiling Bell said. “Just a lot of fun. That was so much fun.”
The significance of the event was not lost on him either.
"Just how historic it was," Bell said. “For NASCAR to run in the rain like that – not in the rain, but run in the damp conditions on an oval, I mean it ended up being hopefully a good show. You can answer that more than me, but I had a blast, it made it different.
“That’s what the key is to having successful races and entertainment. Hopefully, that was entertaining because it was something different, something new, and nobody knew what to expect and what to do. The guys that figured it out the quickest were the most successful."
Interestingly, the front of the field looked notably different following the red flag re-start. Tyler Reddick, Ryan Blaney and Denny Hamlin were leading when cars were called to pit road for the heavy rains. But it was a distinctively different group of drivers – most with vast dirt track experience – ultimately leading the field to the checkered flag.
“It was fun," said fourth-place finisher and NASCAR Cup Series championship leader, Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson. “I think when it’s like that, I think that is why you see a lot of the dirt racers kind of migrate to the front."
Runner-up and fellow dirt track driver Chase Briscoe agreed with Larson. He wasn’t even in the top-20 when the red flag came out; a situation similar to several of the top finishers.
“I’ve always joked this is one of my worst racetracks, so to run second is kind of surprising to be honest with you," Briscoe said. “The rain definitely helped us. If it wasn’t for the rain, we literally would have run 24th probably. We were able to have a couple of good re-starts and our guys did a really good job just understanding the rain balance.
“I think we learned a lot when we did it [raced in damp conditions] at Richmond (Va.)."
And starting in 2025, Bell and Briscoe will be seeing a lot more of each other, as it was announced today that Briscoe will take over the driving duties of the No. 19 Toyota currently driven by Martin Truex Jr.
“I’m excited for this opportunity with Joe Gibbs Racing and Bass Pro Shops,” Briscoe said. “From a competition standpoint, JGR is the place to be if you want to go win races week in and week out and to race for the championship every year."
Obviously, the sport would rather have ideal weather conditions at each stop on the schedule, but now having two points-paying events – at Richmond Raceway and at New Hampshire – succeed in the trying weather gives the series a sense of well-earned achievement.
“Man," said third-place finisher, SHR’s Josh Berry. “That was a lot of fun, honestly."
World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, Ill. is the newest addition to the 2024 USAC Silver Crown National Championship schedule.
On Friday, August 16, the 1.25-mile paved oval will present USAC Silver Crown practice and qualifying before capping the night with the main event – the 60-lap, 75-mile Ranken Technical College Silver Crown Showdown Presented by Welsch Heating & Cooling.
The USAC Silver Crown portion of the event will be held in conjunction with practice and qualifying sessions for both the NTT INDYCAR Series and the INDY NXT series at the Saint Louis area track.
On Friday race day, the public gates will open at 11am Central with Silver Crown practice set to begin at 1:45pmfollowed by Silver Crown Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying at 5:30 pm and the main event under the lights at 9pm.
The addition to the schedule presents a rare doubleheader weekend of USAC Silver Crown racing with the pavement of WWT Raceway on Friday, August 16, followed by the one-mile dirt oval of the Illinois State Fairgrounds for the 61st running of the Bettenhausen 100 on Saturday, August 17.
WWT Raceway is the largest and fastest circuit on the USAC Silver Crown schedule. In fact, the fastest lap ever turned by a traditional Silver Crown car occurred at WWT in 2022 when Kody Swanson recorded an average lap speed of 146.699 miles per hour during qualifying.
Ten previous USAC Silver Crown events have been held at WWT Raceway since the oval’s grand opening in 1997. Pat Abold scored the inaugural victory in 1997, followed by J.J. Yeley (1998), Ryan Newman (1999), Tracy Hines (2000), Dave Steele (2001), Bobby Santos (2013-14), Tanner Swanson (2016), Kody Swanson (2022) and Davey Hamilton Jr. (2023).
Among the past WWT Raceway winners, Bobby Santos (Franklin, Mass.) and Kody Swanson (Kingsburg, Calif.) are expected to compete in this year’s event in an attempt to repeat their previous triumphs.

Several changes expected to 2025 playoff schedule
NASCAR is expected to make big changes to the 2025 Cup Series playoff schedule that include new tracks being added while others are shifted to the regular season, sources briefed on the decision told The Athletic.
Both World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway, just outside of St. Louis, and New Hampshire Motor Speedway are expected to shift from having June race dates during the 2024 regular season to hosting one of 10 playoff races next fall.
Darlington Raceway’s annual Labor Day race weekend is also expected to go back into the playoffs in 2025.
To accommodate the three new additions to its playoff schedule, Atlanta Motor Speedway, Watkins Glen International and Homestead-Miami Speedway will transition to the 26-race regular season.
Other expected changes to the 2025 schedule, according to industry sources, include the non-points Clash being held at Bowman Gray Stadium.
NASCAR is also working to add an international race for 2025, with negotiations progressing with promoters in Mexico City and Montreal.

The International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) and NBC Sports have agreed to a multi-year extension of their media rights agreement, keeping NBC Sports as the home of the flagship IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and other IMSA-sanctioned series.
As part of the agreement, NBC Sports will present 17 hours of IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship coverage on the NBC broadcast network annually, nearly a 50% increase of broadcast network coverage per year from the prior agreement. Additionally, all WeatherTech Championship coverage will stream live on Peacock.
NBC Sports’ IMSA viewership has grown 37% in the past five years since acquiring media rights prior to the 2019 season. 2023 was NBC Sports’ most-watched season to-date (since 2019), delivering a 13% year-over-year viewership increase for its coverage on NBC and USA Network. Additionally, this year’s IMSA coverage on Peacock has seen roughly a 60% increase in total minutes streamed to-date vs. last year.
“Our partnership with NBC Sports has produced viewership increases for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship every year from our first year in 2019 through last season," said IMSA President John Doonan. "We also have managed to deliver impressive audience growth on Peacock, which is an especially valuable platform for delivering live, flag-to-flag coverage of endurance races to our domestic race fans. The SK Light Modified division will compete for the title of King of the Crate on Wednesday, July 17th at Stafford Speedway. The format for the new event will feature two 15-lap preliminary races with the top-12 in each race transferring to the 40-lap King of the Crate feature event. The event will accompany the GAF Modified Masters Open Modified 100-lap, $12,000 to win event.
The 40 lap event will feature over $12,215 in prize money including $2,100 to the winner.
“The SK Light Modified division has featured some great battles over the years and we are excited to put a new marquee event on the calendar for the teams,” explained Stafford GM David Arute. “The preliminary format is an opportunity for all drivers to turn some laps to try and make the feature.”
Between their 15-lap preliminary and 40-lap feature race, SK Light Modified teams and drivers will be tested, running 55 laps compared to their typical 28 laps. With a limited number of drivers qualifying for the 40-lap feature, a good run in the preliminary race will be vital for anyone who wants to take home the King of the Crate crown.
“Being a midweek event we wanted to try something different,” continued Arute. “We now have a unique format for both the GAF Modified Masters for the Open Modifieds and the King of the Crate for the SK Light Modifieds. We’re looking forward to making this an annual can’t miss event on the Stafford Speedway calendar.”
Previously announced the GAF Modified Masters will include time trials, heat racing, a pole dash, and a 100-lap, $12,000 to win feature event. Full event details

The 2024 USAC Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held on Driven2SaveLives BC39 weekend for the USAC NOS Energy Drink National Championship at The Dirt Track at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. USAC headquarters are located just across the street from the racetrack.
It’s been several years since Evergreen Raceway hosted a Friday night show and coming up on July 12 the 1/3-mile paved oval in Butler Township will be racing under the lights that evening with a three division program of 602 Crate Modifieds, Street Stocks and Four Cylinder Stocks.
It will be Driver Appreciation Night and as bonus the first 50 drivers who sign in will receive complimentary passes thanks to longtime Evergreen Raceway sponsor, The Wire Guys of Hazle Township.
“We’re excited to be able to have a race under the lights for that Friday evening,” stated owner/promoter Jason Makarewicz.
“And how amazing too that The Wire Guys are stepping in to pick up the tab for the first 50 drivers. That is awesome to say the least and I can’t thank them enough for all of the support they have given to us over the years.
“It never ceases to amaze me how much they put into this track and I know those drivers who get to take advantage of their generosity will feel equally the same.”

Throughout the evening there will be giveaways as well also courtesy of The Wire Guys. Friday night’s races begin at 7:00 pm and main gates will open at 5:00 pm.
Due to heavy rains that left the track and grounds overly saturated and a high chance of more rain later in the day Big Diamond promoters Jake and Jasmine Smulley postponed Friday’s Georgie Stevenson Memorial.
The Georgie Stevenson Memorial will now take place this Friday night, July 12th with Twin 20's for the Quandel Concrete Modifieds. Also competing will the USS Achey, Inc. 602 Crate Sportsman and the Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunner "Full Fender Frenzy" plus a huge FIREWORKS show.
