Pioneering British Racecar Driver Katherine Legge unveiled today her first children’s book, titled “Kat’s Magic Helmet.” The vibrant and emotionally-rich book was co-authored with Red Racer Books Publisher Andy Amendola and illustrated by Board-Certified Art Therapist Ashleigh Mower.

“I know firsthand how it feels to be an outsider, having often been the only girl competing against boys,” said Katherine. “This book is for every kid who’s ever felt unsure or left out. I want them to know they’re not alone—and that they absolutely belong.”

“Kat’s Magic Helmet” is inspired by Legge’s real-life start in karting at a young age. The beautifully-illustrated, premium children’s book encourages young children, especially girls, to push past fear, trust their instincts, and to take their place wherever they choose to go. In the book, readers meet 9-year-old Kat, who is shy and unsure, but ready to race! Her father hands her a “magic” helmet that instantly sparks courage. What little Kat ultimately finds out is that the magic isn’t in her racing helmet, but within herself.

Written and illustrated for families and educators alike, “Kat’s Magic Helmet” retails at $19.99 and is perfect for anyone seeking empowering stories children ages 3 to 8-years-old to read. The 10”x10” premium hardback is especially well-suited for young readers showing an interest in racing, confidence-building or sportsmanship, as well as young fans of real-world role models like Katherine Legge, whose achievements were made through stories of perseverance.

“Katherine is an incredibly talented race car driver, but more importantly, she shares the magic of desire and self-confidence, so others can believe in their dreams,” said Racing Pioneer and Indy 500 Driver Lyn St. James. “Not everyone wants to be a competitive athlete or race car driver, but young people—especially girls—can be inspired by her story of determination.”

The book’s talented illustrator, Ashleigh Mower, uniquely met Katherine as a teenager, and later became the designer of Katherine’s real racing helmets. Mower’s artwork for Legge’s debut children’s book brings a deeply personal, emotional touch to both women’s journeys of self-belief and bravery.

“Kat’s Magic Helmet” is sold at Amazon and select specialty bookstores, with more to be announced soon. The book is also an officially licensed product of INDYCAR™ and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

There’s a homecoming in the offing for Homestead-Miami Speedway.

After a five-year absence, NASCAR Championship weekend will return to the 1.5-mile venue in South Florida, heralded as one of the most exciting venues in the sport from a racing standpoint.

In 2026, championships in the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series will be decided at Homestead, which hosted Championship Weekend from 2002 through 2019.

The season finales of all three national series are scheduled for Nov. 6-8, 2026 as NASCAR begins a rotation of championship races that will move between marquee venues and key markets.

“Homecoming is a good word,” said Ben Kennedy, NASCAR Executive Vice President, Chief Venue & Racing Innovation Officer. “We can't wait to get back there. It's a great race track. I mean, we've crowned a lot of Legends there, a lot of Hall of Famers.

“We've had some amazing championship races. And undoubtedly, it's going to deliver in 2026 so we can't wait to be there in November 2026, and we’re really excited to be able to press the button and announce this thing.”

Phoenix Raceway, host site for the deciding races from 2020 through 2025, will remain in the Championship Weekend rotation and will be part of the Round of 8 in next year’s Playoffs. Other venues that will be part of the title rotation from 2027 and beyond will be announced later.

“Weather is a big part of it,” Kennedy said. “Being in early November, we want to make sure we're in a warm-weather climate and that it's an atmosphere that a lot of our fans can come out and enjoy and not get the risk of a snowstorm or anything.

“We want to make sure that we're in a big market, a large metro (area) that can really embrace us. We want to make sure it's marketed and promoted the right way, that it feels like a world-class championship facility. And Phoenix was that for a number of years. We're going to be putting some capital into Homestead-Miami as well.”

The South Florida track hosted NASCAR Championship weekend from 2002 through 2019, though the creation of the Chase in 2004 and the evolution to the elimination format introduced in 2014.

According to track president Guillermo Santa Cruz, the track will make significant improvements between Tuesday's announcement and the arrival of transporters at the track next November.

“We’ve got to look at the facility—it’s a fresh coat of paint, a few other improvements in our hospitality areas,” Santa Cruz said. “Here in South Florida, even though that time of the year tends to be wonderful, you still want some shade and things like that to make our guests a bit more comfortable. So we're going to be looking at all those things to make sure that people have the best possible experience.

“In that regard, Phoenix has set a very high bar. They do a fantastic job. So we know we’ve got to step up our game. The good news is, when it comes to the racing, there's not much we need to do. The track is in excellent shape, puts on some great racing. I'm often reminded by people in the industry not to touch it. So I will not be touching the track, but other areas will get some sprucing up.”

Santa Cruz expects a sell-out for Championship Weekend, which will serve as the capstone for South Florida’s sports-rich environment in 2026.

“For South Florida, for Homestead, it's a huge deal,” Santa Cruz said. “This track means a lot to this community, and they've been really clamoring to have the championship back. And certainly for South Florida, it's an incredibly big deal, because 2026, which we already knew was going to be a wonderful year in sports for Miami-Dade County, now gets even bigger.

“We will have the NCAA Football Championship. We'll have the Winter Classic from the NHL. We'll have World Baseball Classic, Formula One, FIFA World Cup, and then cap off the year with the NASCAR Cup Series championship. All we need is for the Dolphins to make it to the Super Bowl.”

Three full-time active drivers have been crowned champion at Homestead-Miami Speedway: Kyle Busch (2015 and 2019), Brad Keselowski (2012) and Joey Logano (2018). Logano added titles in 2022 and 2024 at Phoenix.

Extensive promotion of Championship Weekend will follow Tuesday’s announcement.

“We're going to promote it in a big way,” Kennedy said. “Starting (Tuesday), we have a lot of content—social, digital—that is all going to go out promoting this event and starting to begin the renewal process for a lot of our fans. And then there'll be a lot of bites at the apple that we'll have ahead of time, things like the logo for the weekend and entertainment that we're going to have throughout the weekend.

“We want to have as many moments in the sun that we can between now and our Championship Weekend. So I think you'll see a big announcement today, and it might go quiet for a little bit as we go through the summer and through this season, and then after the Phoenix race, we're really going to be ramping up a lot of that promotion for the Championship.”

Tickets for 2026 NASCAR Championship Weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway can be purchased at 866-409-7223 or online at www.homesteadmiamispeedway.com. Fans can stay connected to Homestead-Miami Speedway on Facebook, Instagram, and X.

The Miami Grand Prix has a fresh contract that will keep the event on the Formula 1 schedule into the 2040s.

Earlier this week, F1 officials confirmed a contract extension for the F1 Mexico City race through 2028.

Of the other U.S. Grands Prix Austin is contracted through 2026, and is widely expected to remain long-term, while Las Vegas has a contract option through 2032.

Formula 1 and the Miami Grand Prix have announced a 10-year extension to the event, securing the status of the race through at least the 2041 season.

Miami joined Formula 1’s schedule in 2022 on a 10-year deal, with the semi-permanent Miami International Autodrome constructed on the campus of the Hard Rock Stadium.

It is one of three rounds in the United States on the calendar, joining Austin—which debuted in 2012—and Las Vegas, which arrived a year after Miami, in 2023. Ahead of this weekend’s fourth running of the Miami Grand Prix a fresh contract was signed that will keep the event on the calendar into the 2040s.

It means Miami is now the event with the longest contract in Formula 1.

“In just three years, the Miami Grand Prix has established itself as one of the most important and spectacular events on our calendar, an extraordinary example of quality and vision that truly represents the spirit and ambition of Formula 1 in the United States,” Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said.

“Extending this agreement until 2041 is a strategic milestone of enormous importance, which strengthens our presence in America and consolidates the ever-deepening bond with our fan base there, which is constantly growing and passionate like never before.”

Added Miami Grand Prix Managing Partner Tom Garfinkel: “Securing a 10-year extension with Formula 1 through 2041 is an extraordinary milestone for all of us at South Florida Motorsports and a true testament to the hard work of our team, the strength of our partnerships, the support of our community and the growth of the sport in the United States.

Officials say the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix has delivered more than $1 billion to South Florida economy since the race’s 2022 debut.

“To have been granted this extension after only our third event speaks to what we have felt from the very beginning—the Miami Grand Prix is here to stay.”

News of Miami’s contract extension comes after championship organizers this week extended with the Mexico City Grand Prix through 2028.

Mexico City, which returned in 2015, had a contract through 2025 but a fresh three-year deal has been reached.

Of the other U.S. Grands Prix Austin is contracted through 2026, and is widely expected to remain long-term, while Las Vegas has a contract option through 2032.

Next year’s calendar, which has not yet been published, will feature the addition of the Madring, the new semi-permanent facility on the outskirts of Spain’s capital, Madrid.

The Madring will take over the running of the Spanish Grand Prix, and is expected to take place in September, though existing host venue Barcelona also has a deal for 2026, meaning there will likely be two rounds in Spain for one season.

The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, which will host the next round of this season, is expected to be discontinued after 2025.

It has already been confirmed that the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort will end after 2026, while the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps will switch to a rotational deal after 2027.

NASCAR considering bringing race to iconic Pennsylvania stadium

This according to Matt Connolly | mconnolly@pennlive.com

Franklin Field is the home of the Penn Relays and the University of Pennsylvania football, track and field and lacrosse teams. It was also the home of the Philadelphia Eagles from 1958-1970. The historic stadium could also be the home of a NASCAR race in the future, according to NASCAR President Steve O’Donnell.

O’Donnell spoke with the Associated Press Sports Editors organization earlier this week in New York and revealed that Franklin Field is a venue being considered to host a NASCAR race down the line.

NASCAR hosted an exhibition event at LA Coliseum in February of 2024. Franklin Field is viewed by NASCAR as a similar type of stadium.

“When you look at opportunities, one of the places we looked around with the Coliseum was in Philly, Franklin Field. It was one of the only ones that we could put a race track inside of because of the Olympic size track,” O’Donnell said. “Those are the types of things in a city we’re going to look at because the days of just building a rural track are over.”

According to O’Donnell, NASCAR has a passionate group of fans in the Northeast. If NASCAR does indeed hold a race in Philadelphia, he has no doubt that fans would get behind it.

“If you look at Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and you look at short track racing, there’s a huge, hardcore short track market with a lot of local fans who love racing in general,” O’Donnell said.

“It’s got that built in and there’s the (Pocono Raceway) infield experience. Those areas are still a bit underserved. You look at Pocono, Dover and New Hampshire. The northeast is a huge fan base for us.”

In addition to holding an event at the LA Coliseum last February, NASCAR has also added a street race at the Chicago Street Course in recent years.

The annual race was first held in 2023, and this year’s event is scheduled for July 6. The success of the street race has led to NASCAR exploring other unique events, including a potential race at Franklin Field.

“We’re in Chicagoland and we’ve got an oval that’s an hour outside of Chicago. We’re doing great there. We raced in the streets of Chicago and all of a sudden, wow, NASCAR, we brought it to the people,” O’Donnell said.

“It has opened up those opportunities. We’re just barely scratching the surface of what cities those can be. It’s very expensive to do that ,so you’re not going to see us racing in 20 different cities – it doesn’t make sense because we’ve got iconic race tracks – but we have the ability to now put that in play.”

O’Donnell acknowledged that NASCAR is still in the “pretty early” stages of exploring a potential race at Franklin Field.

Still, the venue is a possibility and one that could make sense for both sides. NASCAR also looked into holding an event at Soldier Field in Chicago, before learning it would be impossible to do so. That’s not the case with Franklin Field.

“Through that, we looked at where in the U.S., and for that matter the world, could you go take a LA Coliseum-type event and run it?” O’Donnell said. “Franklin Field was part of that. Wembley Stadium. It really only works in Olympic-style venues. There’s not as many of those as there used to be. It still could be a possibility.”

"The Continuing Importance of Working Together..." That is something that more in motorsports should be doing.

Each and every one of us faces countless decisions every single day. It’s overwhelming at times—trying to stay ahead, manage responsibilities, and still give our best effort in everything we do. Despite our best intentions, things do fall through the cracks. It's inevitable. Especially as a new season begins, that lingering question always creeps in: “What are we forgetting?”

The answer? There’s always something.

There’s always something more to do, more to fix, more to prepare for.

That’s the nature of business. And it’s definitely the nature of this business.

In racing, just like in life, the pace is relentless. The challenges grow more complex by the day—not just on the track, but in how we navigate the business side of the sport. We’re constantly adjusting to new demands: a sponsor changes expectations at the last minute, a fan voices frustration over a tough call, or a competitor criticizes a decision made in the interest of fairness—often with the phrase, “After all we’ve done for you over the years…”

It all circles back to something we touched on just last month: The importance of working together.

It’s easy to forget this when we’re knee-deep in stress, juggling deadlines, and defending ourselves from every direction. But when we lose that shared focus—when we stop pulling in the same direction—we stall out. The frustration builds. Momentum slips. Progress fades.

Sometimes, it feels like the negativity is everywhere—chipping away at morale and productivity. And it’s not just one side pushing against another. It’s all sides struggling to find alignment. That makes it even harder to move forward.

We all want what’s best for the sport. We all want success, growth, sustainability. But that can’t happen if we’re spinning our wheels in neutral, weighed down by division or distrust.

That should be an industry-wide message. Promoters, manufacturers, competitors, each of us.

The only way we build a brighter future—for racing, for our teams, for our fans, and for ourselves—is if we commit to collaboration, communication, and understanding. Not just when it’s easy, but especially when it’s hard.

For the entire industry; We all face the same uphill battles. The long nights. The tough calls. The balancing acts. But we are not alone. Let’s lean into the power of unity. Let’s share ideas, support one another, and keep the bigger picture in mind—because a strong industry isn’t built in isolation. It's built through trust, respect, and effort across all corners of the sport.

Let’s stop guarding our corners and start building bridges.

Many of us had stood on the sidelines for too long, watching this happen.

Let’s work together. Let’s be better together. Because none of us can do this alone—and we were never meant to.

The lead investors behind North America’s foremost motorsports news and information source RACER announced today that they have acquired MAVTV and will rename the TV network – that’s available on 350 million devices – RACER to create the most followed and diverse motorsports media platform in North America.

“We have been partners for many years, and over time the parties realized this made complete sense,” said RACER Chairman of the Board Chris Dyson.

“The combination makes RACER the central multi-media motorsports hub for fans and provides brands with the most comprehensive array of marketing solutions to activate their involvement in the sport and its adjacent sectors.”

CJ Olivares, president of MAVTV and former executive of FUEL TV, Street League Skateboarding and World Surf League, will continue overseeing the network’s expansion and will lead the brand transition of the network.

The combination will provide the Irvine, CA-based RACER brand with a substantial additional base of operations in another of the United States’ motorsports and automotive centers, Indianapolis, where MAVTV is located. The company expects no changes to staffing or operations, ensuring continuity in operations and production.

“This is an exciting day for motorsports media,” said Olivares. “We are deeply grateful to the Lucas family and Lucas Oil Products, whose support and vision shaped MAVTV into the success it is today. Now, under the RACER banner, we will redefine the way content for motorsports and its adjacent sectors is delivered and experienced, and establish the largest, most comprehensive motorsports media platform in North America.”

The TV network and recently-launched app will combine to broadcast 300+ live races in 2025, along with race highlight shows, racing talk shows and additional racing programming, car collecting auction and build shows, automotive documentaries and lifestyle series, which aligns with RACER’s expansion into the motorsports-adjacent sectors of performance automotive, car culture, car collecting and off-road.

“Since we completed our capital raise last September, our business, our content offering, our marketing solutions and our team have evolved rapidly. Additional signals of our change and our future are literally days away, and we can’t wait to share those with the marketplace as well,” added RACER founder and Chief Executive Officer Paul Pfanner.

“This acquisition fortifies two of the four strategic pillars we’re pursuing as a brand, pillars we call ‘follow’ and ‘market’, which relate to amassing the largest motorsports following in North America – the most important motorsports and automotive market in the world – and offering our partners, customers and brands the tools they need to succeed.”

The rebrand from MAVTV to RACER will take place progressively over the next few months, allowing for the necessary television logistics and operational steps to be executed seamlessly. However, some branding elements, such as logos and digital assets, will change immediately to reflect the new brand identity. This approach ensures no disruption for viewers, partners, and stakeholders while delivering an enhanced motorsports media experience.

“What started as grassroots grew into something much bigger: a home for motorsports fans, car lovers, gear heads, people like us who live and breathe the culture. The network’s expansion and evolution over the years will always be one of our greatest success stories and a reflection of our love for motorsports and its people,” said Morgan Lucas, CEO of Lucas Oil, who added that Lucas Oil remains deeply committed to motorsports, continuing to support drivers, teams and racing series through sponsorships, technical partnerships and unmatched product research and development.

“We take immense pride in what MAVTV has become, and we are excited for RACER to lead the network into its next chapter, building on its strong foundation to elevate the standard of motorsports broadcasting for fans everywhere.”
