NASCAR dominates auto racing TV audience
The NASCAR Cup Series claimed the top 15 television audiences for racing in the United States in 2024, and 37 of the top 38.
The Chicago race was the tops for the Xfinity Series, coming in at 39th on the list.
The season opening Truck Series race at Daytona was 63rd.

The Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco fires off its 2025 season in the Sunshine State at All-Tech Raceway in Lake City, Fla., with the sixth edition of the ‘Sunshine Swing’ speedweek.
Four consecutive nights of racing follow a Tuesday Open Practice Feb. 4-8, 2025, at the Wendell Durrance-operated venue.
STSS Modifieds and Sportsman compete at the pristine facility located between Jacksonville and Gainesville.
The All-Tech events kick off Season No. 12 for the Short Track Super Series, which was launched April 6, 2014, at N.Y.’s Orange County Fair Speedway.

Paul Mancini of New Gretna, N.J. (STSS Modified) and Dylan Madsen of Spencertown, N.Y. (STSS Sportsman) have officially filed the first ‘Sunshine Swing’ entries.
An open practice on Tuesday (Feb. 4) sets the stage for four consecutive nights of racing at All-Tech to kick-start the ’25 Northeast Modified season.
Wednesday (Feb. 5) brings a 30-lap, $4,000-to-win STSS Modified main event and a 25-lap, $1,500-to-win headliner for the STSS Crate 602 Sportsman.
On Thursday (Feb. 6), STSS Modifieds go 35 laps with $5,000 up for grabs and STSS Crate 602 Sportsman race 25 laps with $1,500 going to the winner.
Friday (Feb. 7) sees the STSS Modified main increase to 40 laps offering $6,000 to the winner, while STSS Crate 602 Sportsman increase to 30 laps and a $2,000 top prize.
Saturday’s (Feb. 8) finale is topped by a 50-lap, $7,500-to-win STSS Modified main and a 30-lap, $2,000-to-win Crate 602 Sportsman program.
Again in ’25, ‘Sunshine Swing’ champions will be crowned in both the STSS Modified and STSS Crate 602 Sportsman divisions.

The 38th Pioneer Pole Buildings Motorsports Show is set to feature a true icon of American motorsports, Bill Elliott, who will attend the show for special appearances, autograph sessions, and stage events celebrating his incredible career.
Known as “Awesome Bill from Dawsonville,” Elliott is one of the most accomplished and beloved drivers in NASCAR history, and fans will have the opportunity to meet him in person on Friday, January 24, and Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA.
Elliott’s storied career includes 44 NASCAR Cup Series victories, two Daytona 500 wins (1985, 1987), three Southern 500 victories, and one Brickyard 400 victory. He made history in 1985 by winning the Winston Million and recording a NASCAR modern-era single-season record of 11 superspeedway victories. His accolades also include setting the fastest qualifying speeds at both Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway, records that still stand today.
As one of NASCAR’s 50 Greatest Drivers and a member of the NASCAR Hall of Fame (Class of 2015), Elliott’s impact on the sport is undeniable. He won NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver Award a record 16 times and is regarded as one of the best and most influential drivers in the history of stock car racing.

David Gravel of Watertown, Connecticut was voted “Driver of the Year” by the North American 410 Sprint Car Poll voting panel of media members, promoters, sanctioning officials and manufacturers for the first time in his career. Gravel captured the World of Outlaws championship for the first time. Among David’s fifteen WoO wins included the Brad Doty Classic at Attica and Eldora’s King’s Royal. David also topped the High Limit Series $100,000 Joker’s Jackpot at Eldora. Gravel received twelve of the fifteen first place votes. Williams Grove National Open and 12-time WoO winner, Carson Macedo of Lemoore, California, received two first place votes, and Jackson Nationals and six-time WoO winner, Donny Schatz, received one.
Those drivers ranked second through fifth in the poll were, Macedo, High Limit champion and ten-time feature winner, Brad Sweet of Grass Valley, California, Schatz, and ten-time winner and World Finals titlist, Tyler Courtney of Indianapolis, Indiana.
High Bank Nationals winner and WoO Rookie of the Year, Michael “Buddy” Kofoid, Tuscarora 50 and Skagit Nationals winner, Rico Abreu, 15-time winner Anthony Macri, eight-time WoO winner, Sheldon Haudenschild, and Bob Weikert Memorial winner, Danny Dietrich completed the top ten.

Jonathan Bateman has earned “Promoter of the Year” honors in the 410 class for the first time. Jonathan and his team helped smooth the transition of all of the big events at Eldora Speedway after the untimely passing of Jerry Gappens.
“Builder/Manufacturer of the Year” honors in the ‘410’ poll will go to Life Line Sprint Car Fire Suppression Systems for the first time.

“Thomas J. Schmeh Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Sport”
A deserving recipient will receive the 2024 “Thomas J. Schmeh Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Sport,” the highest honor in the North American Sprint Car Poll. The late Eloy Gutierrez is this year’s recipient. Eloy revolutionized timing and scoring, after coming up with an electronic system in the late 1990’s. Instant results and lineups are something we all take for granted to- day, but if not for Eloy’s innovations, would not be possible. The Albuquerque, New Mexico native lost his battle with cancer this year.

Modifieds are back at one of the nation’s most beloved dirt tracks.
Port Royal Speedway – the Central Pennsylvania mecca known as the Speed Palace – hosts the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco to kick off the series’ Northeast season Friday-Saturday March 14-15.
Competing during the spring ‘Speed Showcase’ are the STSS Modifieds, STSS Sportsman and Pro Stocks.
“Port Royal is an annual highlight on our schedule for drivers and fans,” STSS founder Brett Deyo said. “We’re fortunate to have the opportunity to compete at the Speed Palace in the spring after a well-attended event last year.”
The weekend format is as follows:
· Early hauler and camper parking 4-9 p.m. on Thursday, March 13. Pit area weekend wristbands will also be sold during this period.
· Open Practice (all divisions welcome) from 10 a.m.-Noon on Friday (March 14). Pit gates open at 8 a.m.
· Qualifying for Modifieds, Sportsman and Pro Stocks takes place on Friday night (March 14) with hot laps at 6 p.m. and qualifying races at 7 p.m.
· Live music and a party will take place after the completion of Friday’s racing in the Commercial Building (approximately 10 p.m.)
· Consolations, followed by feature events on Saturday take place with hot laps at 2 p.m. and racing at 3 p.m. (times may be adjusted due to weather and temperatures)
· Sunday (March 16) will be utilized as a weather date.
STSS Modifieds will compete in a 60-lap main event offering $12,000 to the winner from a balanced payout of more than $73,000. The pay structure reflects the 2025 series initiative to ‘spread the wealth’ through the field offering $4,500 for fifth, $2,000 for 10th and $1,500 for 15th.
The complete payout is as follows: 1 - $12,000; 2 - $7,000; 3 - $6,000; 4 – $5,000; 5 - $4,500; 6 - $4,000; 7 - $3,500; 8 - $3,000; 9 - $2,500; 10 - $2,000; 11 - $1,900; 12 - $1,800; 13 - $1,700; 14 - $1,600; 15 - $1,500; 16 - $1,400; 17 - $1,300; 18 - $1,200; 19 - $1,100; 20-Last - $1,000. Total: $73,000
Again in ’25, STSS Sportsman will compete in their most lucrative event of the season at Port Royal. The winner of a 40-lap event receives $4,000 from a total purse of nearly $14,000.
Pro Stocks run 25 laps around the Speed Palace with a minimum winner’s share of $1,250.
