Grandview Speedway along with Astound Broadband are announcing the release of several race dates that will see select Saturday Night race programs televised during the upcoming 2025 racing season.

The Astound TV Network (ATVN) will be returning for the 23rd consecutive season at Grandview Speedway to record the race events on six selected Saturday nights, and then show the broadcasts on a tape-delayed basis. The professionals at ATVN have been covering local auto racing since the early 1970’s, with the 2025 season sending ATVN into their 43rd year of local auto racing coverage.

Astound TV Network (ATVN) will once again produce the race events and broadcast those races on a tape-delayed basis, with each program being split into two separate shows. The heat races will be a complete program shown on the following Tuesday night. The features will air the following Friday evening, with further replays to follow.

Astound Broadband has finalized their schedule of television dates for racing at Grandview Speedway.

The six selected Saturday night events, which all include the T.P. Trailer NASCAR Modifieds and the T.P. Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman, are on May 3 (plus the Pro 4 Racing Series), May 24 (plus the Outlaw Vintage Series), June 7 (plus the URC Sprint cars), June 28 (plus the Outlaw Vintage Series), July 12(Sportsman Firecracker 40), and the final one will be the 55th annual Forrest Rogers Memorial for the NASCAR Modifieds on August 9.

As has been the case for many seasons, Randy Kane and Mike Feltenberger will be returning as the announcing team for all ATVN race broadcasts.

Grandview Speedway management welcomes ATVN back for their 23rd season, as Grandview management and all race teams enjoy having the race events shown on ATVN, providing them both with another way to get the race team and track sponsors additional and expanded exposure.

The 2025 season of racing will be the 63rd consecutive at Grandview Speedway, and will begin with a double-header program of Outlaw Racing Series Enduro and Outlaw Racing Series Vintage action on Saturday, March 22 starting at 12 Noon, carrying a rain date of Sunday, March 23.

The following week on Saturday, March 29, will be the traditional annual free-to-the-public practice session open to all divisions starting at 12 noon.

The official Opening Night will be on Saturday, April 5, with the running of the 8th annual VP Racing Fuels Bruce Rogers Memorial Money Maker for Big Block/Small Block Modifieds. Once again this event will be the first point race of the new season and pay the winner a handsome $7500 for 50-laps of feature racing, along with an amazing $1000 to take the green in the feature.

If needed, April 12 is the rain date for the opener. A complete show of NASCAR 602 Sportsman is also on the Opening Night card participating in their first points-paying event of the season.

Race time for Opening Night on April 5 is 6 pm. All fans and race teams are reminded that all Saturday nightevents in the month of April will be starting at 6 pm, before reverting to the regular 7:30 pm starting time on May 20.

Grandview racers and crew members are reminded that they will be able to get a jump on renewing their NASCAR memberships for the 2025 season by applying online. Everyone can begin to apply for their NASCAR membership license at this time, and avoid the lines on Opening Day by going online at https://license.nascar.com/. If anyone has any difficulty purchasing their license please email: weekly@nascar.com.

There is still time for fans to purchase the always popular season passes. The grandstand passes cover all Saturday night events, from the VP Racing Fuels Bruce Rogers Memorial Money Maker through to the Freedom 38 Sportsman and Freedom 76 Modified championship races in September. The season pass does not include the Rogers Family/Bob Miller promoted Thunder on the Hill special events, or the Outlaw Racing Series Enduro/Vintage events.

Chase Briscoe and the No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing team have been handed an L2-level penalty following the recent Daytona 500.

After Briscoe’s No. 19 Toyota was inspected further at the NASCAR R&D Center in Concord, N.C., officials discovered modifications to the spoiler of the race car.

The spoiler is a single-source vendor supply part that cannot be modified. The team was found in violation of Section 14.1 in the NASCAR Rulebook, which pertains to overall assembled vehicles rules and 14.5.8, which deals with the spoiler.

Among the penalties was Briscoe being docked 100 driver points and 10 playoff points. JGR was fined $100,000 and docked 100 owner points. They were also deducted 10 playoff points.

Briscoe’s crew chief, James Small, was suspended for four races.

Couple of thoughts. Why did it take so long to discover the modifications? NASCAR had to take the car back to Concord to so they had a lot of time to look for problems? What other problems could be found in other cars if they got taken to Concord?

NASCAR MOVIE IN THE WORKS??Jeff Gordon says he’s talked to Tom Cruise about Days of Thunder sequel

NASCAR may be heading back to the big screens, and Jeff Gordon wants it to happen.

In November of 2024,it was reported that actor Tom Cruise, who played the infamous character of Cole Trickle in 1990’s ‘Days of Thunder‘, was in talks of reprising his role in a sequel for Paramount Pictures.

Following the recent Daytona 500, Gordon confirmed he has had conversations regarding the potential movie sequel.

“I’ve absolutely talked to Tom about it because I want him to do the project,” Gordon said. “And we want to be a part of it if it were to happen.”

Gordon and Cruise have had a friendship in the public eye for years, with the actor sitting stop Gordon’s pit box in the past as well as surprising Gordon during his retirement speech at the 2015 NASCAR Awards.

“He seems to like to tease it, so I don’t know. We’ll see what happens,” he said. “If that doesn’t happen, I feel pretty confident there’s a project out there that will get NASCAR back on the big screen, if not just a really cool docuseries or something beyond even what we’re already seeing right now.”

Two-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion and the winningest driver in NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series history is set to return to Spire Motorsports for a five-race campaign in 2025.

Busch, 39, earned a pair of CRAFTSMAN Truck Series wins for Spire Motorsports in 2024 and is the defending winner of the FR8 208. In addition to his victory last February at the high-speed 1.54-mile suburban Atlanta quad-oval, Busch also collected the checkered flag last April in the SpeedyCash.com 250 at Texas Motor Speedway.

“With my long-standing relationship with Jeff (Dickerson) and having a lot of my former employees still working on the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series teams at Spire Motorsports, it’s cool to be able to hop back in their Chevy Silverados five times and work towards filling those trophy cases,” said Busch. “I still really enjoy being a part of the process of evaluating their equipment and being a mentor to the young drivers in Spire’s lineup. It’s fun trying to help speed up their learning curve by passing on a few pointers here and there.”

Once again, Busch will work with crew chief Brian Pattie and Spire Motorsports No. 7 team for a pair of races including Atlanta and later this season at Charlotte Motor Speedway (May 23). He will also see time behind the wheel of the team’s No. 07 Chevy at North Wilkesboro Speedway (May 17), Nashville Superspeedway (May 30) and finally Watkins Glen International (August 8). Crew chief Allen Hart calls the No. 07 team’s efforts in 2025.

“My schedule will consist of some tracks where I’ve had a lot of success in the Truck Series, like Atlanta, Charlotte, and Nashville but also two tracks that I’ve never raced at in a truck - North Wilkesboro and Watkins Glen,” added Busch. “So, I’m looking forward to hopefully adding a couple more tracks to the list of places where I’ve won across my Truck Series career.”

Busch is one of the most accomplished drivers in NASCAR’s modern history. The Las Vegas native advanced to the Championship 4 for the Cup Series in five consecutive seasons from 2015-2019 and has won some of NASCAR’s most prestigious races, including the Brickyard 400 (2015 and 2016), Southern 500 (2008) and Coca-Cola 600 (2018). Busch enters the 2025 season with 63 wins in NASCAR’s premier division and is one of only two active multi-time champions.

In addition to his two Cup Series titles, he won the 2009 NASCAR Xfinity Series championship and is the all-time wins leader in that series (102) as well as the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (66). Busch also ranks first all-time among Truck Series drivers with an average finish of 6.5 and second all-time with 8,050 laps led.

Helio Castroneves was the 41st entry into the Daytona 500 for his Cup Series debut. He [finished] 39th.

Castroneves said he got everything out of the experience that he hoped.

“Absolutely,” he said. “Every time you get in the car, you never want to get out before the checker. Unfortunately, that’s the scenario. However, look, I can’t take this for granted. Justin Marks, I can’t thank him enough, Trackhouse, Project 91 — for putting this incredible opportunity together, and hopefully it keeps doing.”

There’s no further NASCAR plans for Castroneves at the moment, but he says he would like to eventually make a return.

“I’d love to, especially [on] a road course,” he said. “Now that I understand a little bit more. My seat is good. Now that I have gone through the whole process I wish I would have had a little more seat time. I was having a good time there. I was understanding a lot. Darn it, what a tough break.”

National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, LLC (“NASCAR”), Levy and Denali, the nation’s largest organic recycler, today announced they will collaborate to recycle the leftover or uneaten food following NASCAR Cup Series™ events at NASCAR-owned tracks across the U.S. during the 2025 racing season. Denali helps fight climate change by diverting organic waste from landfills and transforming it into valuable nutrients for agriculture and horticulture.

“Denali is on a mission to replenish the earth by repurposing organic waste into valuable resources,” said Eric Speiser, Denali’s Chief Revenue Officer. “Working with sports organizations like NASCAR allows us to make a significant impact on the environment while helping our customers achieve their sustainability goals and contribute to a cleaner future.”

“NASCAR is proud to announce this national food recycling program across 11 of NASCAR’s owned tracks – one that we believe is among the first major sports leagues to take a nationwide approach to recycling food,” said Riley Nelson, NASCAR’s Head of Sustainability. “In 2024, NASCAR recycled nearly 57,000 pounds of food from events across the country, and we look forward to building on that momentum in 2025.”

Sporting events of a large scale such as NASCAR races generate an average of 5,000 pounds of food waste per event. As a first step, NASCAR works strategically with Levy to donate provisions to support food insecure families in local communities. In 2024, Levy facilitated the donation of 13,520 pounds of food following NASCAR Cup Series™ races.

For food that cannot be donated, Denali collects this unconsumed food and gives it a new purpose, recycling it into compost, nutrient-rich soils, natural fertilizer and animal feed. Together, NASCAR, Levy and Denali will recycle an estimated 80,000 pounds of food waste into usable products in 2025. This amounts to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of 26.14 metric tons of CO2, the equivalent of charging more than two million smartphones over 22 hours.

The collaboration is part of NASCAR IMPACT’s sustainability efforts. The organization set a goal to achieve net zero emissions across its operations by 2035 and continues to invest in sustainable practices, including relationships with organizations like Denali to reduce waste, conserve resources, and promote sustainable practices at its events.

“Working with Denali and Levy to collect and recycle food waste at our races illustrates the collaborative effort needed for NASCAR to achieve the goals set across our operation over the next decade,” said Nelson. “The positive impact of this collective effort paves the way for future opportunities.”

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, unconsumed food comprises approximately 24% of landfill content, producing greenhouse gas emissions 28 times more potent than carbon dioxide.

“The foundation of our sustainability strategy is our goal to reduce food waste by 50% by 2030,” said Mary McCarthy, Vice President of Sustainability for Levy. “Our teams focus on three things: waste prevention, reducing waste at the source, and recovery to divert surplus food. Working with Denali and NASCAR is an incredible opportunity for our teams to create a positive impact in their communities. In 2023, Denali recycled 14 billion pounds of organic materials, including 1.7 billion pounds of food waste from grocery stores, special events and entertainment venues, hotels, and restaurants.
