Almost doesn’t count, and second chances are rare – especially in motorsports. When the Indoor Auto Racing Series returns to the PPL Center in Allentown, PA, on January 3-4 for the 8th Annual Ironton Global Allentown Indoor Races, TQ Midget drivers will have another opportunity to capture the $10,000 Ironton Auto Body Challenge.
Last year, Tanner VanDoren, a young driver from nearby Schnecksville, PA, and Huntersville, NC’s Ryan Flores split the TQ Midget main events held on the 1/10 mile concrete oval.
VanDoren, scored the surprise victory on Friday night, after Flores and longtime rival Andy Jankowiak of Tonawanda, NY, made contact while battling for the lead. Flores returned to form to score his sixth career win inside the PPL Center on Saturday, VanDoren came home a strong third.
While both drivers enjoyed a successful weekend the $10,000 weekend sweep eluded them.
Thanks to renewed support from Ironton Auto Body, with a sweep of Friday and Saturday night’s TQ Midget A-Mains, the possibility of a $10,000 weekend inside the PPL Center returns.
“Last year both Ryan and Tanner felt they had a legitimate shot to complete the sweep and take the big money,” stated series director Danny Sammons.
“The $10,000 challenge makes both nights equally important and adds a level of intrigue to the event, not to mention the potential for a serious pay day!”
To complete the challenge, Friday’s winner will be offered a guaranteed starting spot in Saturday night’s main event, with one caveat, its the tenth starting spot. As a bonus for agreeing to start tenth, and accepting the challenge Friday’s winner will be given $1,000.
If the Friday winner can race from the tenth starting spot and complete the weekend sweep on Saturday, another $4,000 bonus will be theirs. Combining the $5,000 in bonuses with their winner’s share of the purse will earn them an even $10,000.
“Stan Stanzek and everyone from Ironton Auto Body are huge supporters of the Indoor Series and racing in general,” offered Sammons.
“When we developed this program last year, our goal was to create excitement for both nights while offering a significant financial reward.”
As an added bonus, if the weekend sweep isn’t pulled off, Ironton Auto Body will roll over a portion of the challenge to the Atlantic City Indoor Race.
Ironton Auto Body is a family owned and operated business providing quality auto body repairs from complete collision repair to paintless dent removal based in Coplay, PA. They also offer 24 hour emergency towing and trailer repair.
Tickets for the event are on sale now via Ticketmaster and the PPL Center box office.
In addition to the high-speed TQ Midgets—purpose-built race cars powered by motorcycle engines—two support divisions will also race: Slingshots and Champ Karts. The early entry deadline for competitors is December 1.
Family-Friendly Pricing: Tickets start at just $20 for adults, with general admission for children available for only $5 on the day of the event. Premium front-row seating and reserved seats are also available for an additional fee. Pricing excludes facility and ticketing fees.
Fans can enjoy an exclusive pre-race FanFest on the arena floor, where lower-level reserved ticket holders can walk the track and meet their favorite drivers before Saturday night’s race.
After two nights of racing in Allentown, the Indoor Series stars will head to Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ, for the NAPA Auto Parts Gambler’s Classic on January 31and February 1. The series will conclude its season on a clay oval at the CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton, NJ, on February 21 and 22.
After producing one of the closest championship battles in series history, the Super DIRTcar Series is poised for another yearlong spectacle with new races and the top big-block modified events in the country.
Series super stars will battle on 33 occasions in 2025, starting in February with Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals at Florida’s Volusia Speedway Park and ending in November with World of Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.
In between are a multitude of marquee events starting with the championship season opener at New Egypt Speedway, SummerFAST, the $53,000-to-win Billy Whittaker Cars 200 and more.
“We’re coming off one of the most competitive seasons in history, where every position in the top five were up for grabs at World Finals,” Series Director Dean Reynolds said. “Not to mention, we also had nine different winners.
“With that and with some old friends coming back to the schedule — and even some new ones — I can’t wait for 2025 to get started.”
NEW IN 2025
The end of June marks the Series’ return to Cornwall Motor Speedway for the first time since 2019. The O’Canada 100 (June 29) serves as the first Ontario stop of the 2025 season, paying $10,000-to-win and offering a guaranteed starting spot at Super DIRT Week 53.
One night after returning to Cornwall, the Series also returns to Mohawk Int’l Raceway for the first time since 2019. The northern New York stop (June 30) will be the 14th visit in series history.

Weedsport Speedway (Aug. 17) will kick off the 2025 edition of the Mid-August spectacular and be followed by Brewerton Speedway (Aug. 18), Land of Legends (Aug. 19) and Fulton Speedway (Aug. 20).
Drivers will accumulate points all four nights with the SummerFAST champion being crowned at the end of the event. Ten-time Series champion Matt Sheppard won the first two SummerFAST titles and Alex Yankowski won his first in 2024.
Weedsport Speedway will be a mainstay on the Super DIRTcar Series schedule, making four appearances in 2025.
The traditional Heroes Remembered 100 (May 25) during Memorial Day Weekend kicks off the four visits. Then, the “Beasts of the Northeast” return in July for a Saturday night battle in the Hall of Fame 100 (July 26), one night before the World of Outlaws Nos Energy Drink Sprint Cars make their New York appearance.

NASCAR President Steve Phelps vows that fans will know where to watch Cup races in 2025 according to Dustin Long.
NASCAR President Steve Phelps vowed that fans will know where Cup races will air in 2025 despite the series having more broadcast partners than this past season.
Phelps also discussed the cost and value of the Chicago Street Race and what NASCAR has invested in fan amenities at tracks it owns during a session Tuesday at the Fifth Annual Race Industry Week sponsored by Racer.com, epartrade.com and Speed Sport.
Phelps was not asked about the antitrust lawsuit that 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports filed against NASCAR and NASCAR Chairman Jim France. NASCAR and France both submitted a motion to dismiss the case Monday. NASCAR stated in its document that the “complaint is a misguided attempt to dress up private business frustrations in antitrust garb.”
In 2025, NASCAR Cup races will air on USA Network, NBC, Fox, FS1, Amazon Prime Video and TNT. Xfinity races will air on the CW Network. Truck Series races will air on Fox and FS1.
Prime Video will air five races, including the Coca-Cola 600, marking the first time Cup races are exclusively streamed. TNT also has five races, including the Chicago Street Race. NBC and USA Network will air the final 14 races of the season, including all 10 playoff races.
Prime Video, Max and truTV will air practice and qualifying for Cup during the season except the Clash, Daytona 500 and All-Star Race. Those practice and qualifying sessions will remain with Fox Sports.
On concerns from fans about where they can watch Cup races in 2025, Phelps said: “I do believe these five media companies are going to … promote the sport more than it has ever been promoted and that’s really important. We need to make sure that race fans know where to go. I’ve heard that from a lot of folks that say, well, they’re not going to know where to go.
“We are going to have a megaphone and blast where these opportunities are for race fans to go and watch our races, starting with Fox and then FS1.
“Just consider the first part of the year. You’re going to have Fox promoting with the NFC Championship Game, promoting the (Daytona) 500 and the Clash (at Bowman Gray). Then at the Clash, you’re going to have (Fox) promoting the Daytona 500. The following week at the Super Bowl, which Fox has, they’ll be promoting the Daytona 500.
“Warner Brothers Discovery with … the product on Max that’ll be a subscription product, they’ll be promoting that significantly with the in-car cameras … and that content that will come through there. You’ll have the CW promoting the Xfinity race and the Daytona 500 and then you’re going to have Amazon talking about practice and qualifying because it’s going to be on week two when we go to Atlanta, (practice and qualifying is) going to be on Amazon.
“So you’ve got all (this) massive promotion that is going to happen, and I think that’s a good thing for the sport. The only one that won’t be promoting (early in the season) of our five media partners is going to be NBC. They’ll certainly pick up the slack when it’s their turn to do that, and they do such a great job with promotion and obviously does such a great job with their production value as well.”
Also, NASCAR’s schedule has had numerous changes in recent years. The Clash was held at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for three years before moving to Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The 2025 season marks the first Cup race in Mexico City. The 2025 season also marks the third year of a three-year agreement to have the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series race on the streets of Chicago.
“Chicago financially is, we’ll just say it’s a difficult race for us, but, you know, it costs $50 million, and we, unfortunately, didn’t sell $50 million worth of tickets and sponsorship and that’s what it is. But was it a smart decision for us? I believe it was. I think it actually helped us with both Amazon coming on board and Warner Brothers Discovery (TNT).
“We heard from both their CEOs that that was the case because this is a sport that was willing to invest in itself and drive innovation that leads to growth. That’s what we’re going to continue to do, whether it’s the schedule or anything else, frankly.”
As for fans at the track? Phelps talked about the investment made at tracks owned by NASCAR, which includes Daytona International Speedway, Phoenix Raceway, Talladega Superspeedway and Martinsville Speedway, among others.
“How do you create things that are unique and different for new fans and long-term fans alike,” Phelps said of a goal for NASCAR. “And that’s what we are going to continue to do because we’ve invested a lot of money.
“You look at our facilities, each of our facilities is hardwired with high-seed opportunities for internet … because if you don’t have connectivity at a racetrack, you’re missing something, whether it’s phone calls or texts or whatever it might be. The ability to send video across your device to family and friends, whether it’s social media or otherwise, is an important thing for us, but it’s expensive.
“We spent $50 million at our 12 race tracks to put it in, permanent fiber, so there was strong connectivity. That’s what the fans expect. They’re getting it at other facilities as well that are stick-and-ball sports. So, we’ve got to keep up with what is happening there and make sure that we are investing into things that make for a more compelling experience.”
-Leaf Racewear and Bell Helmets have partnered with Stafford Speedway to honor the 2024 track champions. All 5 of the weekly track champions will receive a custom firesuit from Leaf Racewear and a new helmet from Bell Helmets.
“We started this program with Bell Helmets a few years back and have been able to provide our champions with some of the most advanced helmets on the market,” explained Stafford Speedway General Manager David Arute. “We’re very excited to add Leaf Racewear to our champions program and be able to provide a custom champions firesuit for each of our track champions.”
Champions Andrew Molleur, Kevin Gambacorta, Tyler Chapman, Matt Clement, and Travis Downey will each get to select their helmet type from Bell Helmets. Each Leaf Racewear firesuit will be similar in appearance with track champion and Stafford Speedway along the legs.

Stewart Confirms Return To Top Fuel
Following his first full-time season of NHRA Top Fuel racing, NASCAR Hall of Famer Tony Stewart will return to the nitro-burning category next season.
Stewart, who earned NHRA Rookie of the Year honors in 2024, confirmed his commitment to the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series during Tuesday’s Race Industry Week session, which aired live on SPEED SPORT’s YouTube channel.
Prior to eliminations for last month’s NHRA finale at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip in California, Stewart’s wife and Top Fuel driver, Leah Pruett, gave birth to their first chil
“I’m going to be back in the Top Fuel car again next year,” Stewart said. “Leah has decided she wants to be a mom this first year. I’ll be honest, she is literally just over two weeks from having Dominic and I am pretty confident in about two to three weeks, she’ll be ready to get back in a Top Fuel car.
“She absolutely looks amazing. Looking at her, you wouldn’t even tell she just delivered a little boy to us. So, it’s just amazing how strong and tough my wife is and what she does. But, she does wanna be a mom next year.”
Stewart took over driving duties for Pruett this year after they announced she’d be stepping away from driving to focus on having a family.
“I’m kinda fighting it a little bit, but, I guess the bonus to it is I get to drive a Top Fuel car again next year,” Stewart said. “I get to win either way.”
In his first season, the Tony Stewart Racing driver finished ninth in the Top Fuel standings. He earned two final round and four semifinal appearances throughout the season.
As expected, NASCAR motioned to dismiss the lawsuit from both 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports and the newly refiled preliminary injunction request from the teams as they seek temporary charters over the duration of its lawsuit against the sanctioning body.
In its motion to dismiss on Monday night NASCAR responded with, ‘Stripped of its bluster, Plaintiffs’ Complaint reflects nothing more than dissatisfaction with business negotiations that didn’t go their way.’
In other words, NASCAR argues in its response that 23XI and Front Row have neither proof on the merits that this is even a legitimate antitrust case and there would be a statute of limitations on the language of the charter written in 2016 in the first place.
23XI and Front Row have argued that the inaugural charter agreement in 2016 included owners who were the ‘most likely racing team owners to form a competing circuit,’ as the basis for NASCAR as a monopoly as the structure preventing those team owners from racing elsewhere.
NASCAR says a claim the teams have made is that NASCAR’s exclusivity arrangements with tracks ‘deterred’ 2016 charter owners from ‘trying to form’ a competing stock car racing entity but that the four year statute passed when this was never brought to court.
The sanctioning body has also continued to argue that the two teams have participated for multiple years under the provisions of a charter system and never made antitrust claims until failing to get the terms it wanted in the renewal negotiations process over the past two years.
Also notable in the filing is that NASCAR confirmed that it would not consider approving the transfer of two purchased charters from Stewart-Haas Racing by 23XI and Front Row ‘purchased these Charters fully aware that they contained a release provision, which needed to be accepted for any requested transfer to be considered.’
The ARCA Menards Series has announced a television broadcast agreement extension with FS1 and FS2 that features a full season of live television coverage in 2025. Additionally, as part of the new agreement, the 2025 ARCA Menards Series season-opener at Daytona International Speedway will air live on FOX, marking the first time in series history a race has aired on broadcast television.
The relationship, which began with Speedvision in 1999, is now extended through at least 2028.
Said Ben Baker, NASCAR VP of Broadcasting & Production Operations: “We’re proud of the long-standing partnership between ARCA and FOX Sports in what will span across three decades during the course of this most recent extension. FOX’s coverage of the ARCA Menards Series continues to expand to a larger audience and we’re looking forward to their coverage of great racing for in the years to come.”
ARCA also has released the 2025 ARCA Menards Series schedule, comprised of 20 races at 19 different tracks, with the season-opener slated at Daytona International Speedway. For the fourth consecutive year, the season will close at ARCA’s home track, Toledo Speedway.
The highlights:
The series will race at Daytona for the 62nd consecutive year dating to 1964. As it has for the last six years, the race will be the opener of a same-day doubleheader with the NASCAR Xfinity Series the day before the Daytona 500. FOX will broadcast the Daytona ARCA 200, the first time an ARCA Menards Series race will be broadcast live on an over-the-air network.
Kansas Speedway continues to be the only track on the schedule twice, with races scheduled in conjunction with the NASCAR national series in May and September.
Companion races with the NASCAR Cup Series will also take place at Phoenix Raceway in March, Talladega Superspeedway in April, Charlotte Motor Speedway in May, Michigan International Speedway in June, Dover Motor Speedway in July, Iowa Speedway and Watkins Glen International in August, and Bristol Motor Speedway in September.
Standalone short-track races will be held at Berlin Raceway and Elko Speedway in June, in a return to Madison International Speedway in August, the traditional fall classic date at Salem Speedway in September, and the championship finale at Toledo Speedway in October.
The two dirt miles at the Illinois State Fair and DuQuoin State Fair both return on their traditional weekends.
Lime Rock Park will join the schedule for the first time, the 181st different track at which the ARCA Menards Series has raced. It will mark the first time the series has raced in Connecticut, the 32nd different state in series history.
The race at Phoenix Raceway in March will be a combination race with the ARCA Menards Series West, while races at Dover Motor Speedway, Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, Iowa Speedway and Bristol Motor Speedway will be combination races with the ARCA Menards Series East.
The 2026 Formula 1 grid is set to expand following the organization’s agreement on Monday with General Motors (GM), which supports GM and Cadillac’s entrance to the open-wheel series.
GM will become F-1’s 11th team on the grid after the series “maintained a dialogue with General Motors and its partners at TWG Global, regarding the viability of an entry following the commercial assessment and decision made by Formula 1 in January 2024.”
F-1 declared that GM had reached crucial milestones in its bid for a team, “and made clear their commitment to brand the 11th team GM/Cadillac, and that GM will enter as an engine supplier at a later time.”
“With Formula 1’s continued growth plans in the U.S., we have always believed that welcoming an impressive U.S. brand like GM/Cadillac to the grid and GM as a future power unit supplier could bring additional value and interest to the sport,” Greg Maffei, President and CEO of Liberty Media said.
“We credit the leadership of General Motors and their partners with significant progress in their readiness to enter Formula 1. We are excited to move forward with the application process for the GM/Cadillac team to enter the championship in 2026.”
Mark Reuss, president of GM, also released a statement following the news.
“As the pinnacle of motorsports, F-1 demands boundary-pushing innovation and excellence,” Reuss said. “It’s an honor for General Motors and Cadillac to join the world’s premier racing series, and we’re committed to competing with passion and integrity to elevate the sport for race fans around the world.
“This is a global stage for us to demonstrate GM’s engineering expertise and technology leadership at an entirely new level.”
In January, GM and Andretti Global were denied an entry on the grid next season due to Formula One Management stating the team would not “be a competitive participant.”
They were initially approved by the FIA last October (2023) to field a team.
Andretti Global opened a U.K.-based facility near Silverstone Circuit in April to strengthen its efforts with Michael Andretti spearheading the program.
However, Andretti stepped down from his role with the team in September. Dan Towriss of Group 1001 and Gainbridge took his place as the head of the team’s three-car NTT IndyCar Series program and Road to Indy efforts.
Towriss is now the CEO of TWG Global, the other half of GM’s bid for a team.
“We’re excited to partner with General Motors in bringing a dynamic presence to Formula 1,” Towriss said. “Together, we’re assembling a world-class team that will embody American innovation and deliver unforgettable moments to race fans around the world. We appreciate FIA and FOM’s support of our application and their recognition of the value we can bring to the championship.’’
Mario Andretti, the last American F-1 champion and Michael Andretti’s father, will serve as a director on the team’s board.
“My first love was Formula 1 and now — 70 years later — the F-1 paddock is still my happy place. I’m absolutely thrilled with Cadillac, Formula 1, Mark Walter and Dan Towriss,” said Andretti. “To still be involved at this stage of my life — I have to pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming.”
Following the announcement Michael Andretti posted on social media as he applauded GM.
“The Cadillac F-1 Team is made up of a strong group of people that have worked tirelessly to build an American works team. I’m very proud of the hard work they have put in and congratulate all involved on this momentous next step. I will be cheering for you!”
