Continuing a tradition that began in 1992, Grandview Speedway will once again be part of the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series for the upcoming 2024 racing season.

Being sanctioned under the NASCAR umbrella for over three decades now, the 2024 race season will be the 33rd consecutive year that Grandview Speedway participants will be enjoying the benefits of being NASCAR members. Benefits include racing for the NASCAR point fund money which is available for the National, Regional, State and Track championships, as well as the great insurance coverage provided by NASCAR.

Just last season, Grandview Speedway NASCAR Modified Track Champion Brett Kressley picked up not only $10,000 from the track in championship point fund money, but received $3500 from NASCAR for winning the Track championship, another $7000 for being the NASCAR Northeast Region runner-up, $1500 for being the NASCAR Pennsylvania State Champion, an OMP Firesuit valued at $2000, and a new track champion Bell Helmet.

Several other Grandview Speedway drivers with top finishes in NASCAR Northeast Regional points included Mike Gular (3rd), Jeff Strunk (6th), Craig Von Dohren (7th), and Doug Manmiller (9th).

In NASCAR Northeast Region points for the Sportsman in Division II, Track Champion Logan Watt finished (3rd), Brian Hirthler (9th), and Kyle Smith (10th).

As has always been the case, all participating drivers at Grandview Speedway must have a NASCAR license to be able to race and collect point fund money, with the Modified drivers listed as Division I, and the Sportsman drivers competing under Division II.

Grandview Speedway management does encourage everyone to purchase a NASCAR license to enter the pit area for the outstanding extra insurance coverage, however you will be allowed to enter the pit area as a non-member for an increased admission. Those holding a NASCAR license will receive the extra insurance coverage and enter the pits at a discount at all sanctioned events. Car Owners and crew members can purchase their memberships the same as they have in the past if they desire the same coverage.

Speedway management is still offering the always popular season passes. The grandstand passes cover all Saturday night events, from the Bruce Rogers Memorial Money Maker Season Opener through to the Freedom 38 Sportsman and Freedom 76 Modified championship races in September. The season pass does not include the Rogers Family/Bob Miller promoted Thunder on the Hill special events, or the Outlaw Racing Series Enduro/Vintage events.

Season passes, priced at $400 per pass, can be ordered by sending a check or money order to Grandview Speedway, 87 Wilt Road, Bechtelsville, Pa. 19505. When ordering a pass, please make note of who the pass is being purchased for with your request please. To speed up the delivery process, please send along a self-addressed stamped envelope.

On track action will begin on Saturday, March 23 with the first Outlaw Racing Series Enduro and Outlaw Racing Series Vintage Car double-header starting at 12 Noon.  Rain date is Sunday, March 24.

The following Saturday, March 30 will be the annual Free-to-the-public open practice session, open to all divisions starting at 12 Noon. Grandstand admission is free to all spectators while the driver’s test their equipment for the new season.

The official 62nd season opener will follow on Saturday, April 6 with the 7th annual VP Racing Fuels Bruce Rogers Memorial Money Maker for Big Block/Small Block Modifieds. The race carries a rain date of April 13, and the 602 Sportsman will also join the program.

Race time on Opening Night will be 6 pm., and that again will be the starting time for all Saturday night programs for the month of April in 2024.

Woody Pitkat has announced that he will return to competition in the Open Modified events at Stafford Motor Speedway during the 2024 season. Pitkat will drive the No. 8, a Chassis Pro machine, owned by Mike and Makayla Holmes.

Pitkat will run all of the Open Modified events, including the $20,000 to win NAPA Spring Sizzler to open the season, April 27-28.

“Mike has been a friend over the years and driving for him in this new car is a great opportunity,” Pitkat said. “The team will remain very similar to our team with Dunleavy Racing, with Cam McDermott as the crew chief and many of our crew members. We’re looking forward to getting back to Stafford, a place I am lucky enough to call home. They have done a great job with their short-track racing program and we’re excited to chase wins in these major events.”

The team may also run additional events in New England if time allows. Pitkat announced last week he will return to Dunleavy Racing to compete for the full Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series schedule driving their No. 88.

I can’t thank Todd Owen, the Chassis Pro team, and all of our sponsors and crew members enough. We’re looking forward to Stafford and some other races we will have scheduled to chase checkered flags and have a fun year.”

As excitement continues to build for the upcoming 2024 racing season, Port Royal Speedway is excited to announce a dedicated portion of the concourse geared specifically towards our racing teams and where they can sell their merchandise.

Over the years, teams have competed for prime location to set their merchandise trailers, tables, and other setups to get in front of the passionate race fans that attend events at Port Royal Speedway. Now, starting in 2024, there will be a specific portion of the grounds set aside specifically for the teams to set up their merchandise setups and for fans to easily access what all the different teams have to offer. New roads have been put on to the fairgrounds for teams to have easy access in and out of the "Fan Zone" for when they bring in their merchandise trailers and more.

The location of the new "Fan Zone" many fans and teams will be familiar with when searching for racing merchandise during the Juniata County Fair. Teams will be able to set up their area at the back side of the commercial building or outside of turn number 4 on the main concourse.

This area is also open to all fans, if they plan on staying for the racing event or not. Fans do not have to have a general admission pass to access the new "Fan Zone" and can go shop at their favorite driver's merchandise setup while they wait for lines to die down at the ticket windows.

After sitting dark in 2023, the roar of race cars will once again return to Dog Hollow Speedway in 2024. Friday night racing will commence in the spring at the Northern Cambria, Pa. track with Hovis Auto & Truck Supply RUSH Late Models on the weekly card. The new management team, J&E Motorsports, is led by first year promoter John Seiler and his wife Elaine. Dog Hollow will have a pair of Saturday afternoon practices on April 6 and April 13. The season opener is scheduled for Friday, April 19 with weekly racing scheduled to continue through September 27.

The 2024 season will mark the Indiana County facility's 26th anniversary, which began operating in 1998. Under owner and former promoter Jim Michny, Dog Hollow was one of the first four founding speedways to run Chevrolet Performance Crate Late Models in the Northeast weekly beginning in 2007 and have raced there ever since.

"It's great to see the Seilers breathe life back into Dog Hollow and we're thrilled to have the track once again on board with the RUSH program," stated Director Vicki Emig. "This will give racers in the central part of our region the ability to race once again on Friday nights, and additional opportunities to compete for our valuable RUSH Championship programs. Dog Hollow becomes the 21st speedway that will host RUSH Late Model sanctioned events in 2024!"

RUSH member racers will be able to participate at Dog Hollow on a weekly basis in 2024 and be eligible for all of the programs including the City Chevrolet National Weekly Series Championship, City Chevrolet "Track Pack Bonus" program, and the 3C Graphix “Futures Cup” for those eligible racers. While membership is not mandatory to compete in any RUSH-sanctioned event, membership also includes a $100,000 excess participant accident policy, which is over and above drivers’ health insurance and speedways’ participant accident policy.

The City Chevrolet "Track Pack Bonus" is offered to all RUSH weekly-sanctioned speedways, and once again in 2024 will award $2,500 that each track's top six member racers will share. The 2024 RUSH member champion at Dog Hollow will earn $1,000 with $500 for second, $400 for third, $300 for fourth, $200 for fifth, and $100 for sixth.

Under RUSH at Dog Hollow, Joe Moyer (2018), Tim Snare, Jr. (2019), and Michael Duritsky, Jr. (2021-2022) were the "Track Pack" member champions.

Former NASCAR driver and racing analyst Kyle Petty is hitting the open road once again to lead the 28th Anniversary Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America – one of the most popular charity rides in the country. From May 4 – 10, 2024, Petty will lead 150 motorcycles across nine states on a seven-day trek, covering more than 2,100 miles in an effort to raise funds and awareness for Victory Junction – a camp dedicated to providing life-changing camping experiences for children with serious and chronic medical conditions.

Presented by Cox Automotive, the Ride will kick-off in Deadwood, South Dakota, on Saturday, May 4 and will end in Greensboro, North Carolina on Friday, May 10 with a celebratory homecoming at Victory Junction. Cox Automotive is the world’s largest automotive services and technology provider and is a subsidiary of Cox Enterprises. The company’s brands include Autotrader, Kelley Blue Book and Manheim, which will host breakfast for the Ride at Manheim Indianapolis on Wednesday, May 8.

“Our team is beyond excited to host Kyle and the riders at Manheim Indianapolis for breakfast during their 28th Anniversary route,” said Chuck Werner, general manager for the Louisville-Indianapolis Market Center. “It means so much for us to be included in this inspiring event and we look forward to helping the Ride send many deserving kids to Victory Junction.”

Petty has a jam-packed route planned for the 2024 Ride’s 250 participants, including 30 new riders. In fact, Petty has coined this adventure “The AmerICON Ride,” to pay homage to the iconic American attractions featured on this year’s Ride. Some of the highlights include visiting Mount Rushmore National Monument, stopping at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, exploring Churchill Downs – home of the Kentucky Derby, touring the legendary National Corvette Museum, visiting Bristol Motor Speedway, and so much more.

Spectators along the 2024 route are encouraged to attend one of the Ride’s seven overnight stops or daily pit stops to greet Petty and the riders, purchase memorabilia and make donations.

28th Anniversary Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America Schedule:

Day 1, Saturday, May 4 – Deadwood, South Dakota to North Platte, Nebraska

Day 2, Sunday, May 5 – North Platte, Nebraska to Omaha, Nebraska

Day 3, Monday, May 6 – Omaha, Nebraska to Bettendorf, Iowa

Day 4, Tuesday, May 7 – Bettendorf, Iowa to Indianapolis, Indiana

Day 5, Wednesday, May 8 – Indianapolis, Indiana to Bowling Green, Kentucky

Day 6, Thursday, May 9 – Bowling Green, Kentucky to Bristol, Virginia

Day 7, Friday, May 10 – Bristol, Virginia to Greensboro, North Carolina

“This year marks the 20th Anniversary of Victory Junction, so I immediately knew we had to bring the Ride back to camp to celebrate this incredible milestone. After all, the Ride has been there since Victory Junction’s inception, as a founding supporter in 2004, and has remained the largest cumulative donor,” said Petty. “From riding the Black Hills of South Dakota and crossing the mighty Mississippi River to visiting iconic American landmarks, we are going to experience some truly incredible places on this year’s Ride, but none more so than ending back ‘home’ at Victory Junction – where we can see so many deserving kids light up with happiness and experience the magic that lives at camp.”

Victory Junction has served as the Ride’s primary beneficiary since its establishment by Petty and his family in 2004 in honor of his late son, Adam. Since it first began in 1995, the Ride has raised more than $21 million for Victory Junction and other children’s charities. As a result, the Ride has helped Victory Junction mobilize resources to provide over 115,000 camp experiences for children of all levels of abilities who are living with complex medical conditions at no cost to their families.

Among the celebrities participating in the 2024 Ride are NASCAR Hall of Famers Richard Petty and Hershel McGriff; former NASCAR drivers Max Papis, David Ragan, Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace; former NFL great and Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker; and TV personalities Rick Allen and Rutledge Wood.

In 2024, Hendrick Motorsports will enter 10 NASCAR Xfinity Series races with primary sponsorship from HendrickCars.com. Each of the organization’s four NASCAR Cup Series drivers will compete in the No. 17 Chevrolet Camaro this season, along with a special appearance by popular road racing veteran Boris Said.

The schedule kicked off March 9 at Phoenix Raceway with the first of four starts for 2024 DAYTONA 500 champion William Byron and crew chief Brandon McSwain, the lead engineer on the No. 24 Cup Series team. The remaining six races for the No. 17 team will be called by 2014 Xfinity Series champion crew chief Greg Ives, who has 15 NASCAR national series wins.

The No. 17 HendrickCars.com team made four Xfinity Series starts in 2022 and six in 2023. In 10 combined appearances, it has accumulated three pole positions, six top-five finishes and seven top-10s, including three second-place results.

“The No. 17 is a big part of our story, and it would be special to see it win – and win often – during our 40th anniversary season,” said Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports and chairman and CEO of Hendrick Automotive Group. “The sponsorship has been a big success for HendrickCars.com and our dealerships, and we’re pleased to add more races and take it to another level in 2024. It’s victory lane or bust.”

The No. 17 car number has a rich history with Hendrick Motorsports. NASCAR Hall of Famer Darrell Waltrip drove it to nine wins for the team from 1987 to 1990, including in the 1989 DAYTONA 500. The car number was also driven by Ricky Hendrick in various races, including in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2000 and 2001. The HendrickCars.com paint scheme will again be based on the No. 17 truck driven by Hendrick during his 2001 rookie season.

HendrickCars.com is Hendrick Automotive Group’s online destination for new and pre-owned vehicle shopping, locating centers for service and collision repair, exploring career opportunities, and learning about vehicle investment protection. It also sponsors Kyle Larson’s No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports team, NHRA champion Greg Anderson and other racing efforts at the grassroots level.

If Friday night, August 9th wasn’t big enough with the mighty winged 410 sprint cars making an appearance at Big Diamond Speedway along with the Quandel Concrete Modifieds, USS Achey Crate 602 Sportsman and the Red White and Blue Roadrunners. It will also mark the return of the General Lee of Dukes of Hazzard fame.

Appearing on Dukes of Hazzard night along with the famous car will be co-star Tom Wopat who played “Luke Duke” on the show. Also, making an appearance that night will be Rick Hurst who played “Deputy Cletus Hogg” and Jeff Altman who played “Hughie Hogg”.

The General Lee and Tom Wopat were a big hit in 2023 when they appeared with kids and adults alike and this year should be more of the same especially with the fastest dirt cars in the world making their annual appearance in Coal Country.

A.J. Foyt Racing and new driver Sting Ray Robb will feature Pray.com as the Idahoan’s primary sponsor for the 2024 season. A blend of black, yellow, and red is used on the No. 41 Chevy to present Robb’s backer, which aligns with the devout Christian’s faith.

“Faith has been an important part of my journey and I am excited to be able to drive a car that will represent that,” Robb said. “I’m honored and blessed to partner with Pray.com. Through this partnership, we’ll utilize our aligned beliefs and goals to encourage others in their commitment to prayer and grow the faith community.”

Robb has also recently started a series of social media posts where the 22-year-old reads passages from the bible to his followers.

“With the explosive growth of Christian advertisers being embraced by television networks like CBS, FOX, and others we recognized motorsports fans as an incredible audience for Pray.com,” said Pray.com CEO Steve Gatena. “We partnered up with Sting Ray – not only because of his cool name but also because of his Christian testimony.

“The more the pray.com team got to know him, the more we came to love him – he’s got an infectious faith and a great passion for sharing the power of prayer.”

Faith-based sponsors are by no means new to motor racing, but the instances have been limited across various series. In recent years, NASCAR has been the most common outlet for said sponsors, and with a rearward glance to the 1980s, IMSA, the WEC, and IndyCar also played host to cars backed by the Church of Scientology.

The inaugural Vermont Motorsports Expo is the official kickoff party to the 2024 auto racing season. While the event looks ahead to the present and future, it also celebrates the past. One way that it will do so is with the creation of a new award honoring a local legend in the sport.

The first-ever Lennie “The Tiger” Stockwell Award has been created to recognize the previous year’s top performing driver in the famous Flying Tiger division, which has been a staple at Barre’s Thunder Road International Speedbowl for 60 years and at various northeastern tracks over the decades including White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, New Hampshire.

Brandon Gray will be the recipient of the inaugural Lennie Stockwell Award. The East Thetford, Vt., driver won the Flying Tiger championship at White Mountain, narrowly missed the title at Thunder Road, and won a total of 11 races between the two tracks. Interestingly, both Stockwell and Gray are known for a common car number, as both are associated with the No. 00 on their cars.

The award will be presented on Saturday, March 30, at the Vermont Motorsports Expo, held at the B.O.R. Ice Arena in Barre, Vermont. Lennie Stockwell will be on hand for the presentation.

Stockwell raced out of a modest auto repair garage in Bethel, Vt., and he was one of the pioneers of the Flying Tiger division when it began in 1965. Stockwell was considered the heart and soul of the group, and he was beloved by racing fans for wearing an orange-and-black tiger-striped jacket while he raced his powder blue Chevrolets. He was a frequent winner at Thunder Road and the former Catamount Stadium, racing successfully against Beaver and Bobby Dragon, Clem Despault, Tom Tiller, Larry Demar, the Ingerson brothers, Ron Barcomb, and many more.

Stockwell had the respect of his peers, earning the Sportsmanship Award in 1969 – his most successful season – before becoming a technical inspector in the early 1980s. He briefly returned to racing in the Pro-4 Modified division before guiding his son, Kip, as he began his own successful career in go-karts, Flying Tigers, the American-Canadian Tour, and the NASCAR Busch North Series. Today, Lennie Stockwell supports his grandchildren, who are winners and champions in the Claremont (N.H.) Motorsports Park Karting Series.

Brandon Gray’s busy schedule for 2024 includes full Flying Tiger seasons at Thunder Road and White Mountain, as well as Late Model and Super Street events at Claremont. He has already won a race in 2024, taking his second consecutive Winter Blast Enduro 100 at Riverside Speedway & Adventure Park in the cold and snow of Groveton, N.H., in January.

“It’s great that Brandon will be the first recipient of my father’s award,” Kip Stockwell said. “He has absolutely earned it, as far as Dad and I are concerned. Brandon has shown a lot of maturity recently and he dominated the Tigers last year. Not many people ever have that type of year, and he should be proud of himself.”

The Vermont Motorsports Expo will be held on Friday, March 29, and Saturday, March 30, at the B.O.R. Ice Arena in Barre, Vermont. Display space is completely sold out with exhibitors including speedways, vendors, and racing teams from around New England, New York, and Quebec. Details including show times, daily schedules and attractions, ticket pricing, food concessions, and more will be announced soon.

Advertising and sponsorship opportunities for the Vermont Motorsports Expo are available. To learn more, visit the new website at www.vermontmotorsports.net or find “Vermont Motorsports Expo 2024” on Facebook and Instagram at @VTMotorsportsExpo.
